Lip Blush Pre and Post Care

To achieve the best results for Lip Blush or Neutralization, it is crucial to take care of your lips and follow the below pre and post-care instructions.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Keep your lips as hydrated as possible, chapped lips will be sent home.

  • Do not get lip injections or botox (around the area) at least 4 weeks before your appointment.

  • Do not consume caffeine or alcohol 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Lightly exfoliate your lips with a lip scrub or toothbrush the day before your appointment.

  • Do not take Advil or other blood thinners such as Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, etc before your appointment unless medically necessary or prescribed by a medical professional.

  • Bring your ideal lip shade or favourite lip product to your appointment.

  • Please be aware that if you have the herpes simplex virus, you may experience a breakout following this treatment. It is highly recommended that you reach out to your medical professional and take an anti-viral medication such as Zivorax prior to and post your appointment or as advised by your doctor/pharmacist. If you are experiencing an outbreak of cold sores on the day of your appointment, the procedure can not be done that day.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

Day 1: Your lips will appear swollen, bright in colour, sensitive, and tender to touch. You will be given wipes that you will use to wipe your lips once an hour, until bedtime, to get rid of any lymph build up.

Day 2: Your lips should no longer be swollen in size. The colour may appear darker as the ink oxidizes. You are to use the lip healing balm generously starting on this day. Keep the lips moist at all times. Avoid oily, spicy and heavily seasoned food and drink with a straw.

Day 3-5: Your lips will feel dry, tight, and look chapped. Let the scabbing fall off naturally. Do not touch or pick at the scabs as it can remove the pigment prematurely. Your lip blush should look 30-50% more sheer after the scabs fall off (usually by day 5/6). You can go back to your regular routine but still keeping the lips moist and hydrated as much as you can.

Week 5-8: Your lips are fully healed and the colour looks natural yet gorgeous. For neutralizations, multiple sessions may be required. You are welcome to book a touchup at this time.

The following must be avoided during all 14 days post treatment:

  • Swimming

  • Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi

  • Sun tanning or salon tanning

  • Exposure to UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading

  • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area

  • Touching of the treatment area except for when applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab

  • Picking, peeling, or scratching of the treatment area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment

  • Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
